With a foam ball, all you need is something soft to hit into like a sheet or a blanket which absorbs the energy on impact and the ball just drops to the floor.
Now, if you decide to hit with a real golf ball, then you will either need a net that you can hit into or a soft spring like a big tarp which again will absorb the energy of the golf ball on impact.

However, if you are like me and just an average golfer, unfortunately you aren’t going to be able to hit this target area each and every time you swing for the golf ball. You will have a few mishits that miss this bit of material designed to stop the ball and hit the net behind instead.
Now that net will not always stop the ball. There’s been a few times when the ball has gone straight through the net and bounced around the room for a couple of moments of panic and despair.
So, I would recommend adding an extra layer of defense like a thick blanket or a fleece within the net to stop the golf ball from sneaking out of the net.

However, consider that it will require a little bit more room and a considerable bit more money for the screen. However, for me, I really liked the realistic experience of seeing the ball travel and the trajectory of the ball so personally I think it is a worthwhile investment.
What you will also notice when you receive the Optishot pad is that it’s approximately one and a half inches thick so the surface is slightly elevated from the level that you take your stance from. So, you will need something to bring your feet up to the same level as the top of the pad.
I simply bought this mat/pad here from Amazon which already has a cut out for the Optishot pad and slotted in nicely in my garage. Just beware that the mat might slide around on the floor a little so some double-sided tape will help prevent this.Pros and Cons

If you want to use Optishot 2 with real golf balls, you must have a box to shoot the ball into. Also, if you prefer to use foam balls, remove from the surroundings any object that might fall or be damaged by a foam ball.

You can play each course on the screen of your computer, or use your high definition big screen television, or project the image on a large screen right in front of the swing pad just to have the same view and sensation of being on the actual course.

If you are planning on using the system in a living room, family room or bedroom, then it is unlikely that you will be using a real golf ball. Instead, you will have to use a foam ball which will protect you from any mishits breaking things around you.
With a foam ball, all you need is something soft to hit into like a sheet or a blanket which absorbs the energy on impact and the ball just drops to the floor.
Now, if you decide to hit with a real golf ball, then you will either need a net that you can hit into or a soft spring like a big tarp which again will absorb the energy of the golf ball on impact.

However, if you are like me and just an average golfer, unfortunately you aren’t going to be able to hit this target area each and every time you swing for the golf ball. You will have a few mishits that miss this bit of material designed to stop the ball and hit the net behind instead.
Now that net will not always stop the ball. There’s been a few times when the ball has gone straight through the net and bounced around the room for a couple of moments of panic and despair.
So, I would recommend adding an extra layer of defense like a thick blanket or a fleece within the net to stop the golf ball from sneaking out of the net.

However, consider that it will require a little bit more room and a considerable bit more money for the screen. However, for me, I really liked the realistic experience of seeing the ball travel and the trajectory of the ball so personally I think it is a worthwhile investment.
What you will also notice when you receive the Optishot pad is that it’s approximately one and a half inches thick so the surface is slightly elevated from the level that you take your stance from. So, you will need something to bring your feet up to the same level as the top of the pad.
I simply bought this mat/pad here from Amazon which already has a cut out for the Optishot pad and slotted in nicely in my garage. Just beware that the mat might slide around on the floor a little so some double-sided tape will help prevent this.Pros and Cons
